A small study suggests that vitamin B12 would be a safe, effective and economical against recurrent thrush.

“The frequency (of recurrent thrush) is 25 percent in the general population,” said Ilia Volkov, the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel.

The cause of recurrent thrush. In these years, tried various treatments, such as adhesive pastes, antiseptics, vitamins, herbs and steroids.

Although these treatments reduce pain or the number of injuries in the short term, very few proved to have a lasting effect.

The team led by Volkov had already discovered that the treatment of recurrent aphthae with vitamin B12 had lasting results.

In the latest study on 58 volunteers, the team declined to confirm the effectiveness of vitamin B12 on a comparison of results between a group of actively treated patients and a control group that received “placebo.”

The results were published in The Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Compared with placebo, treatment with vitamin B12 significantly reduced pain, number of ulcers and the duration of outbreaks at five and six months. That improvement did not vary by level of vitamin B12 in the blood of patients at baseline.

In the last month of treatment, 74.1 percent of patients treated with vitamin B12 had no ulcers, compared with 32 percent of the control group.

The authors say it is not known exactly how vitamin B12 produces these benefits. The fact that the treatment gave such good results regardless of the initial level of vitamin B12 in blood suggests that vitamin would have some as yet unknown functions.

The gestation period is a period of great change, including hormones and increased blood flow. These changes increase the risk of tooth decay, bleeding gums or gingivitis.

The following tips will allow you to wear your best smile when it comes time to give birth.

Brush your teeth after every meal. Use a fine brush and fluoride toothpaste. Clean the tongue and floss. Its regular use helps prevent gingivitis.

If you have any dental-fulfillment, it is better to do before pregnancy, but if you’re expecting a baby, you should wait for the period between the fourth and sixth month, for the first three are of extreme importance for the development of child and the incidence of complications is higher.

Either way, it is recommended that regularly visit the dentist at least once during pregnancy and again after delivery, that even if you have any dental condition.

However, if your gums are swollen and oozing or have the impression that you move your teeth, go immediately to the dentist, as they may be symptoms of a periodontal problem.

For healthy teeth, food plays a major role. Avoid sugar, “as far as possible,” for its high consumption causes plaque to be more aggressive and to produce acids that attack the enamel and cause cavities.

The gum tissues are extremely sensitive to hormonal changes that could favor even situations that result in the loss of teeth.

The demand for adult orthodontics has increased in recent years to improve the aesthetic and dental health. Until recently it was customary that orthodontics was used in adolescence.

The bad position most likely to cause tooth decay because food is more easily retained and more difficult to have good dental hygiene. Also, if a denture fits poorly can cause headaches for dental derangement.

With age, teeth tend to collect more, leading to crowding of the pieces. Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry which is responsible for correcting the position of the teeth, bone or problems in a way to fit the bite.

In addition to the conventional metal brackets or not there is an innovative orthodontic nickel invisible, highly recommended for those who want to improve their appearance without its image is damaged and can reconcile with their social and working life.

The time required for orthodontics from acting in an adult mouth is two to three years because the movement is less mature bone.

It is best to consult a specialist to perform a diagnosis.

The news hit like a bombshell. The family dentist Azucena Peniche the “sentenced” to withdraw all their wisdom teeth, despite any upsets.

The 28-year-old Ashley’s dental health has been excellent and your wisdom teeth have grown an inch without affecting your other teeth.

So the young rebelled against the diagnosis of who was his dentist for life without wasting time and started searching for other opinions.

The first thing he did was to query the network, and realized that doctors do not always follow the rule to remove those pieces, also known as third molars or wisdom teeth.

Famous for its complications of pain, infection, inflammation and other nightmares, wisdom teeth are terrible threats to the majority of patients. That’s because, in general, the jaws are too small for these four additional molars.

“Some people compare the value of the presence of these teeth in the mouth with the presence of the little finger of his feet … not necessary “, says Dr. Bertha Alarcon of the city of Cudahy.

The specialists agree that these pieces were very important for those who inhabited the planet for millions of years. Ate uncooked food and the wisdom teeth were essential for them to chew and tear that type of food.

Also adds that the jaws were larger and consequently there was room for development.

“The human diet has changed and now the role of these teeth is questioned,” he explains. “Especially for high incidence of becoming defective, distorted, incomplete, stuck or just do not leave.”

The specialist added that the wisdom teeth are the only ones that appear in the young 15 to 25 years.

“That could be the reason for the malformation or that fail to emerge,” he says.

When will you get?
To give an accurate diagnosis, a thorough evaluation of available space on the back of the jaw is essential, the dentist says Alarcón. That way you can tell if your wisdom teeth will have a proper accommodation.

According to the American Academy of General Dentistry (AAGD), retention of the third molar is the most common clinical disorder of development.

It is also necessary to take into account that the extraction or surgery of a wisdom tooth in older people is generally more complicated and painful, has a more severe inflammation and other serious consequences, such as temporary or total numbness of the jaw.

The removal of these parts is best done when the patient is younger, experts say. Then the roots are not yet fully formed and bone is not as hard as in the elderly.

If there is no space in the oral cavity, the third molars should be removed before they affect other teeth. Some of the symptoms or conditions that indicate the extraction of wisdom teeth are:

* Pain
* Swelling of the face;
* Inflammation of the gums in the back of the mouth;
* Its position does not allow access to clean or heal, can get caught and damage to other molars;
* Gum infections and abscess formation because they are difficult to brush;
* Certain infections that can obstruct the airways, with fatal risk.

When can be
However, in other cases, a wisdom tooth may be helpful when you have lost the second molar, or it may run to take its place with orthodontic treatment. They can also serve as a support for fixed bridges or removable.

“If there is enough space for the growth of wisdom teeth and is easy to clean and cure by the dentist, these parts can be maintained without any problem,” he explains. “Of course, the dental checkup every six months and the constant cleaning are essential to the healthy development of those parts,” concluded the training.

Do not forget that in children the mouth is small, difficult access and plenty of saliva, and in its favor should be noted the greater elasticity bone resorption of tooth roots physiological with the smaller size of the tooth. The practitioner must remove all traces, check the socket empty, stabilize the edges, compress cortical, and placing a folded gauze over the socket. Generally not performed suture. With origins dating back over 4,000 years, green tea has always been a popular drink in Asian culture, and has been gaining popularity in the West. As the ancient Chinese medicine and Japanese argued that the consumption of this tea could cure diseases and heal wounds, recent studies have begun to establish potential health benefits of green tea consumption, especially in weight loss, heart health and cancer prevention.

Now a study published in the Journal of Periodontology, has discovered another benefit of green tea consumption. Specifically, researchers have found that the habit of drinking this tea can help promote healthy teeth and gums. The study analyzed the periodontal health of 940 men from 49 to 59, and found that those who regularly took this product had better dental health than those who drank only occasionally.

The ability of green tea to help reduce the symptoms of periodontal disease may be due to the presence of the antioxidant catechin. Previous research had demonstrated the ability of antioxidants to reduce inflammation, and disease indicators measured in this study suggest the existence of an inflammatory response to periodontal bacteria in the mouth. Interfering with this response, green tea may actually help promote periodontal health and even prevent other ailments.

Periodontal disease is a chronic ailment just inflammation that affects the gums and bone that support the teeth, and has been associated with the progression of other diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. “The periodontists believe that maintaining healthy gums is absolutely critical to maintaining a healthy body,” said David Cichran, president of the American Academy of Periodontology.

What is the difference between HIV and AIDS?
HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. A virus is a microorganism that can only be seen under an electron microscope.
When a person is infected with HIV, it gradually attacks the defense system of the human body. Therefore, a person infected with the virus gradually loses its strength and can not fight off other infections.

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. Although it may take many years, virtually all people infected with HIV develop AIDS. A syndrome is a collection of symptoms that when taken together are known as disease. AIDS eventually leads to death.

How can my dentist to prevent HIV / AIDS infection during dental treatment?
The only way that HIV can be transmitted during treatment when it comes into contact with the blood of a person infected with HIV.

All dentists routinely follow hygiene and infection control to prevent transmission of infection. Cleaning and sterilization of instruments, surfaces, etc.. after treatment and the use of disposable items like gloves and needles are the means used by your dentist during treatment to protect patients.

It can spread HIV / AIDS through saliva?
No. Although some reports mention that in the saliva of some people infected with HIV have found tiny amounts of HIV anywhere in the world there is evidence that infection can spread through saliva.

You have been infected once a person during dental treatment?
Yes, in a clinic in the United States credit that several patients were infected by a dentist who died of AIDS. However, investigations revealed that the dentist will sometimes not take the precautions recommended by the American Dental Association.

I am very concerned as AIDS, I must stop going to the dentist?
No. The dental care and treatment are essential and very important personal health and fear of contracting the HIV virus must be judged in that context. They are so small risk of infection during dental treatment makes no sense to avoid treatment.

Care and oral hygiene are essential to have a perfect smile. The wear of tooth enamel and dental caries are favored largely by the consumption of carbonated soft drinks, according to a study published by the U.S. Academy of Dentistry.

Which is not so much by the high amounts of sugar, but these drinks acids (phosphoric, tartaric, malic etc.) That directly attacks the enamel.

The best steps you can take to prevent this from happening to our teeth is:
Consuming soft drinks, coffee, tea and those that contain too many chemicals and dyes.

If you keep eating them is recommended that:
1. Use a straw better than a cup and avoid retaining the beverage in the mouth.
2. Do not drink soft drinks before going to bed.
3. Avoid brushing teeth immediately after drinking, and that erodes over a tooth brushing recently attacked by acids.
4. Brush teeth in a circular, never horizontal.

And you can increase the fluoride. Fluoride is one of the best ways to help prevent tooth decay. It is a mineral that, when combined with tooth enamel to strengthen it.

The preventive measure is the amount of salt added with the proper amount of fluoride, and in areas where drinking water contains large amounts of fluoride should be consumed salt without fluoride. It is also advisable to use toothpaste with fluoride in all cases. Ask your dentist which toothpaste to use to get the appropriate level of fluoride.

Bruxism is the abnormal activity that is tightening and / or grind their teeth unconsciously during the day (diurnal bruxism) and more frequently at night (bruxism). It can be so strong that it is capable of grinding disturbing roommates.

Bruxism is a disorder that affects both adults and children and although not a dangerous condition can cause permanent damage to teeth, headaches, ear, jaw pain and inflammation.

No one knows for certain what causes bruxism, but it seems that many people triggering agent of this condition could be stress during the day.

The wear of the teeth is produced by grinding the teeth, because the person rubs or slides from front to back, one over the other, an action that is decaying.

In the adult patient that this habit is common to miss. In children, bruxism episodes usually occur during the change of baby teeth to permanent teeth.

The diagnosis of bruxism may be at a review visit, which detects the wear of the teeth and observed whether or not to the age of the patient.

Early diagnosis is extremely important to establish the necessary preventive or therapeutic measures.

According to a study presented recently at the annual meeting of Associated Professional Sleep Societies (SLEEP 2008), preschool children suffering from bruxism, are more likely to be introverted and have trouble in school.

According to a survey of parents of 1,956 schoolchildren, for the research team, headed by P. Salvatory Insana, West Virginia University in Morgantown as it increased the frequency of bruxism during sleep, rose a tendency among parents to say their children were withdrawn or did not relate to others and school adjustment was not expected.

Although scientists claim they can not say that bruxism causes introversion or school problems, have uncovered a dynamic relationship between the habit of clenching during sleep and school adjustment.
